The Badlands

This is one of the best three day weekends I’ve ever taken. Two girls, one bad ass 2015 outback car, and a tent. Minus the June Utah sun and mosquitos… this is one of my top Durango-area trips!
Not many natural sculptures can compete with the craters of Canyonlands, just North of Moab, Utah. You can see for miles the craters that God carefully sculpted in red, orange, and brown.
We camped right on the river both nights, and slept under the stars between the quiet canyon walls. On our first day we got a bit lost with apple maps, and took a back road toward Canyonland and found ourselves four-wheeling on the side of a desert cliff; waving as real four wheelers zoomed bye. We ramped up steep rock hills, until the car could no longer handle the terrain. Toyota could have used our footage for a commercial. Rav4 had probably never seen anything like that. I was raised on four wheelers, and that was hands down one of the craziest off roads I’ve ever taken. There is nothing more exhilarating than windows down, bouncing off rocks, music blasting, and looking out the window to a 600 ft drop over the Utah desert.
